Frozen Fever Party 2016 Critique

Hello penguins! Today I will be critiquing the last takeover of 2016, the second Frozen Fever Party! Let us begin!

The decorations at this party were not good. The rooms that were decorated intentionally were medicore, and I don't much to say about them, but it's the rooms that were modified unintentionally that had issues.

Minor nitpick, but the archway at the Ski Village was missing for the duration of this party.

Another nitpick, but the fireplace located inside the Ski Lodge seems to have frozen unexpectedly throughout this event.



This is more of a serious problem. For the first four weeks of this event, the PSA Missions and the EPF Handbook were completely inaccessible.

Another major issue is that the Puffle Berry Mall was inaccessible from the Plaza for the first 2 weeks of this event.

Not to mention the Mall being completely shut off to anyone without a spy phone and the fact that this complete rehash that will last weeks.

The party rooms also had frozen variants. Let us now discuss those..

The Town is my favorite frozen variant of them all. The pattern on the ground is completely concealed under the ice. I especially like the coloring on the fish. It is amusing how the sign on the Coffee Shop was modified to "Iced Coffee" after it's chilled. The coloring on the Dance Club windows is especially interesting here.

Another great room is the Cove.

I really like the coloring on the snow fort, especially the floor and the pointy tops on the towers. The umbrellas have wonderful shading, and the ice is, as usual, very elegant.


The music at this party was a positive overall.

The second song was 909, and it is quite peculiar. It is clearly a 2014 track. It features a xylophone, just as the original Town Center theme from the day after this party. but unlike the first Town Center music, this one is controlled and quiet most of the way through, and the Town Center music is just loud and unpleasant.

The next track is 1131, and it's really cool. It fits the theme of ice quite a lot. I wouldn't be surprised if this would play at an upcoming Festival of Snow or an event similar to this. It also has a style similar to the music from Plants vs. Zombies with the string instrument (which I cannot put my finger on at this current moment) and the chimes that play every ten seconds or so. (Here's the Plants vs. Zombies link, even though that music is better.)

The main theme, 1132, is decent. It has some respectable instrumentation, including a good selection of wind instruments and a violin. This is exactly what I would imagine the main theme to a Frozen Party would sound like. It's extremely peppy and fun. It works a lot better than the Town Center's music from the previous Frozen Parties, for those sound a bit too much as if they were trying to make me feel really emotional for a simple party. That song is 910.

My favorite song from this party was definitely 1133. It has really nice instrumentation, and has a slightly more important tone. It sounds like it's from the Marvel Superhero Takeover, but it also has a very Frozen sound to it. It also brings back the horn from the Card-Jitsu party theme, and you can't go wrong there. It's great fun, and I love to listen to it.

The final track is 1135, and I'm not a fan. For a decent length of the runtime, the only instruments are a piano and a tambourine. There is also some harp and various string instruments in there, but they are in the background for just a fraction of it. This song also gets extremely repetitive quickly. It has 2 parts to it, and they are both different. There's a definite split in the track between them. They don't flow together nicely, and it is extremely bothersome.


The items available were very hit-and-miss. On one hand, we have Snowgies, which is extremely hideous, and the low-polygon count of their eyes make them look like demons.

On the other hand, the Solid Ice encored. The Solid Ice is a gorgeous item that transforms your penguin into ice. It has many different shades of blue and indigo, with snowflake prints and really unique shading. I love it.

The playability at the Frozen parties is like no other. Penguins had the ability to freeze rooms, which has only been seen in small doses with the Holiday Party 2012. The rooms were then unfrozen using the heart emote. This was an interesting concept, but without at least 2 people actively freezing and unfreezing the room, it got quite dull, very quickly. They should have introduced a type of secret reward system that would grant you 500 coins for freezing 2 entire rooms, or something along those lines.

Rooms such as the Beach, Snow Forts, and Town Center do not have many elements to interact with. All of the other rooms, though, have an abundance. The Forest, for example, has many elements in Oaken's shop, as well as the Reindeer Puffle stables. The Dock has many pins, paint, and Oaken's Cloakens, graphical glitches aside.

The story at this party is, if the definition of "story" allows for it, Anna's birthday. There isn't much else, except the collection of pins. This category will not be considered in the ranking.


This party was yet another disappointment. It had some decent elements included in it, including good music and some great items; but due to many graphical and technical glitches, as well as an unwarranted 6-week runtime, this party sadly gets a 3/10.

Blast to the Past: The Leis

Hello penguins! I don't know if you noticed, but there is a new lei available in the Penguin Style catalog this month, and looks exceptionally great.

This lei is actually a new version of an older lei. So let's look at all of the past leis, shall we?

In 2006, the first party of the year was the Winter Luau. At this party, one free item was given out. That item was the Hawaiian Lei.

The Hawaiian Lei, commonly dubbed the Red Lei, is a rare item and has not been available since. It's the only lei that I don't have.

The next lei to be released was the Blue Lei. This lei is an all blue version of the Hawaiian Lei, and was available originally at the Summer Party in June 2006. It was then available again at the Summer Kickoff Party in June 2007, where it was last seen for many years. It was then re-released for the 10th Anniversary Party in October 2015.

We didn't get any new leis for a while, until the summer of 2013.

At the Teen Beach Movie: Summer Jam, a new lei was released called the Friendship Lei. It was available at the Beach starting on August 26th, and looks dissimilar to all of the other leis. Instead of being puffy as the other leis do, this one looks akin to the Star Necklace.

After the release of the Friendship Lei, the community freaked out and when the next lei was discovered in November 2013, it looked like the first 2 leis.

The Golden Lei became available on November 14th, 2013, and can only be dug up with a golden puffle.

And finally, that brings us to the Island Lei, which was released on August 31st, 2016 in the September 2016 issue of the Penguin Style catalog.

Epic Igloos - August 2016

Hello penguins! Welcome to Epic Igloos, the feature here on Club Penguin Secrets where I show you 3 igloos and go into detail about them.

First, I present a vacation home igloo made by Spanish user Beyeza1. It features the house, a garden with many different types of crops to tend to, a small creek flowing into the garden, a picnic table with a colored umbrella and two lawn chairs, two red pool chairs with a glass end table between them and a Catchin' Waves beach towel in front of them, a well, a wheelbarrow full of fresh dirt, and finally, a glass statue of a penguin that is way taller than any penguin in the game. I think the best thing to do here is work in the gardens. I really want some of that tasty watermelon. Yum.

This is a train depot built by Harry Cp, also known as MyCPTales. It has a nice entrance room with benches and small trees. Above the doors is a clock tower, found in many train depots. To the left we have the ticket booths where penguins can buy tickets to ride on the monorail train. To the right we have a relaxation room of sorts with a bench, a Slurpee machine, a dish of candy, and a platter of tasty nachos and salsa. Delicious! Below that we have the platform for waiting whilst the train arrives. There happens to be a street musician's forgotten guitar case there, out in the open for anyone to steal. I hope it isn't taken before they return. At the very bottom we have the track with a train arriving. This train is really cool, and is made up of the 2014 Lockers, Old Sofas, and 2014 Puffle Tubes. It is one of the most stylish trains I have seen since the Holiday 2013.

The third and final igloo I will present this month is a prison created by the user Tamsy4. It has a nice front room with two computers, shelves with numerous trophies and awards, a control desk, and televisions which may or may not be for announcements occasionally. Below that, we see the cafeteria. It has lockers, one picnic table for the prisoners to sit at, and one cafeteria line with green slime and eyeballs, which may or may not be what actual real prisoners eat. The conversation room is to the right of the cafeteria. The conversation room is where the prisoners can talk to their visitors. The right half of the room is the cells. There are 8 cells in this prison, holding up to 8 prisoners. All cells have dishes of food and water for the prisoners to eat and drink. I wonder what the food is made out of.....

The First Purple Puffle

Hello penguins! Today I'll be talking about the first purple puffle shown in the game. You may be surprised of where it came from, so I feel I should begin talking about it as soon as possible. So let us begin!

That's right, the first purple puffle appeared in the first PSA Mission, the Case of the Missing Puffles on June 30th, 2006, while the purple puffle was first available for adoption on August 25th of that year. This purple puffle belongs to Aunt Arctic, and is named Scone. In this mission, Aunt Arctic's puffles, Cornelius the green puffle and the aforementioned Scone go missing and it's the character's job to find them. At the end, the puffles are found located snapping pictures atop the Tallest Mountain (also known as Mount Tallest).

Club Penguin Customs - Puffle Party (Part 2)

Hello penguins!

I am aware that today I was supposed to showcase another installment in Epic Igloos, but since I haven't seen many interesting igloos lately, that will be released next week. Until then, let me now show you the next few rooms in my expanded Puffle Party.

It's time to begin.

So this first room is the Clothes Shop, which I have decided is the Unicorn Puffles' domain at this party. I changed the regular yellow puffle carpet in the lobby into a Yellow Unicorn, and then, since I didn't like that much, I changed it into a Black Unicorn. I intentionally made the horn, hair, and tail small, for stylistic choice. I added a Black Unicorn Puffle on the chair in the lobby. Next, I added a Black Unicorn potion in the pet bed next to said chair. The  coffee table had a magazine with a yellow puffle on it, so I changed that yellow puffle to a yellow unicorn puffle. The dish on the shampoo shelf in the lobby has been changed from purple to yellow. I also added a yellow o'berry on the desk, resting against the pencil cup. I placed two more yellow unicorn puffles on the resting sofa and on top of the crown. A white unicorn puffle is modelling for the cameras. Clicking one of said cameras will result in earning a background featuring a white unicorn puffle. A white unicorn potion has been placed next to the camera. The painting above the resting sofa has been modified, so to change the puffles featured into two breeds of the unicorn puffle.

This is my version of the Snow Forts. I originally was planning on ripping all of the forts from the Puffle Party 2012 and placing them here, but then I decided against it. Instead, I divided the puffle types into teams. As you can see, the first team, the red team, consists of the black, red, brown, rainbow, purple, and blue puffles. The rainbow puffle is a recolored version of the brown puffle from the Snow Forts at the Puffle Party 2012. Therefore, the blue team consists of the pin, yellow, white, gold, orange, and green puffles. The Gold Puffle is a recoloring of a white puffle shown in the Mine during the Puffle Party 2010. I also placed a random Blue Puffle on the log to spectate. The top of the clock tower's sign, which previously featured two fluffies, now showcases an O'Berry and a Rainbow Berry. The Blue Puffle on the Puffle Feeding sign is secretly a pin, but it shines when moused over it (similar to secrets in catalogs such as the Penguin Style catalog).

I didn't do much to the Puffle Feeding area. First of all, I replaced the white ground that the penguins walk on with gray snow from the Ski Village. I then added shadows to objects such as the fence, rocks, and O'Berry bushes. One of the holes had a graphical glitch, so I fixed it.

And now, the final room in the set, the Puffle Show. First of all, I fixed a graphical glitch on the Free sign. Next, I replaced the bland text at the Start and Finish lines with hand-drawn words to make it look more authentic. I then removed the bleachers and added more floorboards there. Since the bleachers covered up some of the sides of the Snacks booth and the Photo shoot, I had to fix the sides of those places. I added an exclamation point to the Applause button. I took the outside view from the Pet Shop and then updated the graphics. That was set as the path to the Puffle Wild. One weird thing about that view, though, is that it looks like a white sky from this perspective. I might fix that in future updates to my Puffle Party.

The Statue

A fun little secret about the Mine Shack from the Descendants Party is the statue. Every few minutes, it would morph. If it was a penguin, it would transform into a beast. If it was a beast, it would transform into a king penguin. The king is most likely a character in an old Disney princess movie, and the beast is a reference to the beast from Beauty and the Beast. It morphs similar to metal melting, being reformed, and hardening again without any metalsmithing. It's really cool. If you would like to see it morph, you might want to check out the .SWF file.

Zootopia Party Review

Hello penguins! Today I'm writing a review of the currently ongoing Zootopia Party, which began on May 18th and ends on July 6th. Many penguins in the community seem to like this party; now I am going to write about what I think about it.

The artwork is very good. With the exception of the Snow Forts, all are similar enough to be easily recognized, but also different enough to be interesting and fun. The Dock is themed after Bunnyburrow, and it has some great decorations - lots of hay bales, a farmer's market, a pie shop, and a lemonade stand.

The Coffee Shop is really nice as well. It has a stone floor, which wasn't necessary, but still really cool. Likewise, it has a fireplace with photos and the like on the mantle, which wasn't necessary, but nice to have.
Despite the grand decorations in all of the other rooms, my favorite place would have to be the Plaza. It has nice coloring, nice shading, and nice placement of plants, trees, and vines, my favorite part of this place would probably be the tree by the Mall.

Next up, the sounds. The music at the Dock is really nice and fits the tone really well. It's what I imagine someone who has never been to a farm thinks a farm sounds like.

The music in the Town Center, Plaza, and Forest is not good. It has an okay bassline, but the bongos in the background do not fit the tone at all. They probably should have left some notes as staccato; instead, most notes use the damper pedal and it is totally unnecessary. I wish this wasn't the main theme for this party.

On a lighter note, the Coffee Shop music is really cool. It starts off with the sounds of an upright bass; I love the sounds of an upright bass. Then, a piano comes in and starts playing smooth jazz. It's really soothing and fits the theme. I wish there was a variation of this in the Town Center.

The Snow Forts music is alright. It has the same damper pedal effect as the music in the Town Center, but some good instrumentation begins to play and it gets better. It has many instruments such as handbells, bongos, and what may be a flute or picollo. 

The Stadium music is bad. Not because the song itself is bad, but because the song sounds like a weird mutant form of bluegrass, and that has nothing to do with a DMV.

The Police Station music is not good. I also like this song, but a song called "Rocking Pizza" should not be played in a police station.

There is a ton of playability available at this party, especially in the Forest and Police Station. The Big Donut (which Zootopia totally didn't steal from Steven Universe despite it looking very similar) can be entered so penguins can work there, which is cool, but the stools outside don't work. Trying to sit on one will result in your penguin standing behind it. But the cheese truck is cool.

There are vendors at the Dock, Snow Forts, and Forest, which are all different. One place serves pie, one serves pawpsicles, and one serves cheese. This encourages roleplaying, similar to the popcorn vendor at the Lighthouse during Halloween. I wish there was one in the Town, though.

My favorite place for playing, though, is the Stadium. The DMV has a race track in it, similar to the Stadium during the Turbo Race 3000, one of my favorite events of 2014. Not only that, but it has not one, not two, not four, not five, not six, not seven, not eight, but three desks at the DMV. This is to shorten the waiting time and hire more sloths.

Now, the costumes. They are really great, but also really bad. Allow me to explain.

Most costumes look really cool, but the Judy head has some really ugly makeup, even after the redesign. I'm not sure why Nick's head has a tie when the body has a tie, and Flash's face looks kinda weird; not weird enough for me to complain about it, but wierd. 

Judy's head is the worst. It looks like somebody put excessive makup on a penguin and didn't know what Judy actually looked like in the movie. The eyelashes are really big and annoying. The eyebrows are not necessary. Normal rabbit costumes wouldn've have eyebrows. The shirt collar should be included in the body item instead of the head item.

No amount of Simpsons references will save this crime against sprite design.

The player-card displays are all a bit off, but the Judy display is the worst.

What's up with those ears?

This one isn't AS bad. My main problem with the other 2 is the smile. This one is the same, but the smile is cut off.

There is no way that any penguin could make their mouth look like that. No way, no how.

The worst thing about these items, though, is that there is not one free item. Sure, many items are free for members, but non-members get nothing, similar to the Wilderness Expedition and the Puffle Party.

As for story, this party contains none.

Now I'll discuss what everybody wants to discuss, the length of the party.

This party is 7 weeks long, the longest party ever, destroying the record set by the Star Wars Party in 2013. While the Star Wars Party had lots of content, this party has significantly fewer party rooms and places to explore. So do I think it will grow stale after a few weeks? Well, a bit. I am typing this 5 weeks into the party. I am already a bit bored by seeing Tundra Town so much, but how long it sticks around shouldn't give a good party a bad reputation.

This party was pretty fun. It had some cool, interesting rooms, some great roleplaying possiblities, some okay costumes, and a few good songs. I'd give this party a 7/10. Goodbye!
