The Statue

A fun little secret about the Mine Shack from the Descendants Party is the statue. Every few minutes, it would morph. If it was a penguin, it would transform into a beast. If it was a beast, it would transform into a king penguin. The king is most likely a character in an old Disney princess movie, and the beast is a reference to the beast from Beauty and the Beast. It morphs similar to metal melting, being reformed, and hardening again without any metalsmithing. It's really cool. If you would like to see it morph, you might want to check out the .SWF file.

Zootopia Party Review

Hello penguins! Today I'm writing a review of the currently ongoing Zootopia Party, which began on May 18th and ends on July 6th. Many penguins in the community seem to like this party; now I am going to write about what I think about it.

The artwork is very good. With the exception of the Snow Forts, all are similar enough to be easily recognized, but also different enough to be interesting and fun. The Dock is themed after Bunnyburrow, and it has some great decorations - lots of hay bales, a farmer's market, a pie shop, and a lemonade stand.

The Coffee Shop is really nice as well. It has a stone floor, which wasn't necessary, but still really cool. Likewise, it has a fireplace with photos and the like on the mantle, which wasn't necessary, but nice to have.
Despite the grand decorations in all of the other rooms, my favorite place would have to be the Plaza. It has nice coloring, nice shading, and nice placement of plants, trees, and vines, my favorite part of this place would probably be the tree by the Mall.

Next up, the sounds. The music at the Dock is really nice and fits the tone really well. It's what I imagine someone who has never been to a farm thinks a farm sounds like.

The music in the Town Center, Plaza, and Forest is not good. It has an okay bassline, but the bongos in the background do not fit the tone at all. They probably should have left some notes as staccato; instead, most notes use the damper pedal and it is totally unnecessary. I wish this wasn't the main theme for this party.

On a lighter note, the Coffee Shop music is really cool. It starts off with the sounds of an upright bass; I love the sounds of an upright bass. Then, a piano comes in and starts playing smooth jazz. It's really soothing and fits the theme. I wish there was a variation of this in the Town Center.

The Snow Forts music is alright. It has the same damper pedal effect as the music in the Town Center, but some good instrumentation begins to play and it gets better. It has many instruments such as handbells, bongos, and what may be a flute or picollo. 

The Stadium music is bad. Not because the song itself is bad, but because the song sounds like a weird mutant form of bluegrass, and that has nothing to do with a DMV.

The Police Station music is not good. I also like this song, but a song called "Rocking Pizza" should not be played in a police station.

There is a ton of playability available at this party, especially in the Forest and Police Station. The Big Donut (which Zootopia totally didn't steal from Steven Universe despite it looking very similar) can be entered so penguins can work there, which is cool, but the stools outside don't work. Trying to sit on one will result in your penguin standing behind it. But the cheese truck is cool.

There are vendors at the Dock, Snow Forts, and Forest, which are all different. One place serves pie, one serves pawpsicles, and one serves cheese. This encourages roleplaying, similar to the popcorn vendor at the Lighthouse during Halloween. I wish there was one in the Town, though.

My favorite place for playing, though, is the Stadium. The DMV has a race track in it, similar to the Stadium during the Turbo Race 3000, one of my favorite events of 2014. Not only that, but it has not one, not two, not four, not five, not six, not seven, not eight, but three desks at the DMV. This is to shorten the waiting time and hire more sloths.

Now, the costumes. They are really great, but also really bad. Allow me to explain.

Most costumes look really cool, but the Judy head has some really ugly makeup, even after the redesign. I'm not sure why Nick's head has a tie when the body has a tie, and Flash's face looks kinda weird; not weird enough for me to complain about it, but wierd. 

Judy's head is the worst. It looks like somebody put excessive makup on a penguin and didn't know what Judy actually looked like in the movie. The eyelashes are really big and annoying. The eyebrows are not necessary. Normal rabbit costumes wouldn've have eyebrows. The shirt collar should be included in the body item instead of the head item.

No amount of Simpsons references will save this crime against sprite design.

The player-card displays are all a bit off, but the Judy display is the worst.

What's up with those ears?

This one isn't AS bad. My main problem with the other 2 is the smile. This one is the same, but the smile is cut off.

There is no way that any penguin could make their mouth look like that. No way, no how.

The worst thing about these items, though, is that there is not one free item. Sure, many items are free for members, but non-members get nothing, similar to the Wilderness Expedition and the Puffle Party.

As for story, this party contains none.

Now I'll discuss what everybody wants to discuss, the length of the party.

This party is 7 weeks long, the longest party ever, destroying the record set by the Star Wars Party in 2013. While the Star Wars Party had lots of content, this party has significantly fewer party rooms and places to explore. So do I think it will grow stale after a few weeks? Well, a bit. I am typing this 5 weeks into the party. I am already a bit bored by seeing Tundra Town so much, but how long it sticks around shouldn't give a good party a bad reputation.

This party was pretty fun. It had some cool, interesting rooms, some great roleplaying possiblities, some okay costumes, and a few good songs. I'd give this party a 7/10. Goodbye!

Wilderness Expedition Review

Hello penguins! Today on Club Penguin Secrets, I'll be reviewing the Wilderness Expedition.
I know this might surprise most people reading this, but I actually really like this party. So I'm going to explain why. But before that, you might want to watch the Walkthrough that I made, just to review.

First of all, the rooms are really cool. The Dock looks really good, as well as the Sasquatch Village.
The Dock and the Sasquatch Village have a lot of cool things in them. If you look at the Dock from the Wilderness Expedition 2011, there isn't much there, other than a sign and path. At the current Dock, there is a lot of stuff to do.

The Sasquatch Village also has more things to do.  You can go fishing, build a boat, be in a band, have a tea party with other sasquatches, relax, eat various flavors of o'berries, go swimming, etc. In the Wilderness Expedition 2011, the Brown Puffle Cave didn't really have much to do in it. You could watch the animation of the machines moving the O'Berries and do some math problem (or at least that's what it looked like, I didn't look at it for more than 3 seconds), but that's about it. The Sasquatch Village just has more activities in it as a whole.

The Glade was removed, but that's okay. It really only had the Coonskin Cap in it and wasn't important to the party, other than giving a free item. But there weren't any free items for members at this party, so it would be nice to have the free hat and maybe another thing. It would be nice to have, but it isn't really necessary.

The emotes are also pretty cool, and are the first emotes to have working animations this year.

Now for the music, the Dock uses the Adventure Party music. It's alright. But the maze has 3 different tracks for the different sets of rooms. This is really cool, and I think all 3 tracks are really good and fit the mood. You can listen to Track A here, Track B here, and Track C here. Track B and C are pretty much the same, but are just different enough for it to be unique and interesting. Track C has more wilderness sounds in the background than Track B.

The Sasquatch Village also uses Adventure Party music, but that's okay with me.

As for playability, this party has a ton. Aside from the few things I mentioned in the Graphical design section above, there is a ton of things to do at this party. The Dock even has a few interactive elements in it.

All the rooms have things to find for the quest, obviously. But more on that later. And by later, I mean the next paragraph.

Now for the story. This story is made up of not one large quest, but a few smaller quests. All of these are scavenger hunts, but they are really fun. Some items are really hard to find, and some blend in very well. The first quest included a footprint mixed in with other footprints. That took a while to find. Another one of the quests included finding scratch marks on a random tree, which also required a few minutes to locate. A few of the items were in the "You're lost!" room, which I never would have guessed if I wasn't going in random directions in hopes of finding them. This quest was pretty fun.
So as for the actual story that I claimed this section was supposed to be about, it's alright. Sasquatch wants to find his old home in the wilderness of Club Penguin Island. We have to solve a maze to help him, while collecting cool things along the way. When we find it, he tells us that he has been dubbed "Sam" by all of his penguin pals. This is surprisingly fun and interesting. Moving on.

If you only logged on for a ton of free items, you've wasted your time. There are more than the original Wilderness Expedition from 2011, but there are only 7 items that you don't have to pay for, and only 2 real free items, because you have to hunt for materials to make the other things. And non-members get absolutely nothing, unless you meet Sasquatch Sam, of course. (And yes, he is walking around at this party.) But in the items' defense, the Sasquatch costume is really amazing and obviously took a while to design, and the tent could be really helpful for roleplaying. And the guitar actually works.



So that's the party, with lots of videos and a few pictures. I give this party an 8/10. For the record, I give the Wilderness Expedition 2011 an 8/10. I gave the Holiday Party 2015 an 8/10, the Prehistoric Party 2016 a 6/10, I gave Operation Tri-Umph a 5/10, and I gave the Puffle Party 2016 a 7/10. This means that this party is just as good as the 2011 Wilderness Expedition, and is the best party this year (tied with the Holiday Party 2015, which technically was in 2016.) Goodbye!

Puffle Party 2016 Review

Hello penguins! Today I am reviewing the Puffle Party 2016! (I won't be reviewing Operation: Tri-umph, in case you were wondering.) This was a fairly good party. I would rate it higher than the last two Puffle Parties. Out of the 3 modern Puffle Parties, this is my favorite; and I'm going to tell you why. But before that, you can watch my walkthrough video below.

The room decorations are some of the best out of the modern puffle parties. The Town Center also has a new adoption booth to adopt some of the party-exclusive puffles; but at the Plaza, the adoption booth has no shadow, and that makes it look lazy.

I can add a shadow to this in 5 minutes, if I was editing the .SWF file and not the .png file. And even if I was editing the .png, it wouldn't take more than 15 minutes and would still look all right. I know you can do better.

Another thing that I and many others noticed is that the television screen in the Dance Club is missing for this party.

Otherwise, the decorations are fine. It's almost exactly the same as 2014.

The music is nothing new. The party music for the Coffee Shop has been used more times than I can count, but it doesn't annoy me as much as it should. The Beach surprisingly uses the music from the Puffle Play Zone during the 2012 Puffle Party, which was really relaxing and fits well.

But one choice that I disagree with is the Dock. The Dock uses the Beach music from the Muppets World Tour in 2014, which was France. That probably wasn't the best idea. A better idea would be the main theme for the Puffle Party 2009. It's bouncy and energetic, but fits well with the Dock because of the zoo decorations and the music being based on an actual Puffle Party.

I'm not sure what the developers were thinking with the Clothes Shop music. Clothes Shop Puffle Party 2015 (ID #885, and yes, that's it's real name) sounds like it belongs in a different party, like the Fashion Show; not in a Puffle Party.

For this party, the items are pretty great. This party had a total of 60 free items, which is more than any other party in history, to my knowledge. Each puffle color had a hat, hoodie, shoes, balloon, and pin. With the exception of the Purple Puffle being represented by the Ghost Puffle, all hoodies are very similar to the color of the original puffle, and the pins all have the O'berry enjoyed by the puffle of the same color. It wasn't a good move to have all of the items members-only, though. At least the balloons should also be available for free players.

To be fair, the Blue O-Berry Pin looks good on almost all background until Rockhopper's Jacket Giveaway from 2013.

There was a multitude of things to do at this party. There was obviously the scavenger hunt, which was relatively difficult; the puffle you were chosen to find was hidden behind objects and there were many puffles that were present, but you weren't looking for. The Pink Stegosaurus took a while to find as well. One part that really annoyed me was where the designers decided to use the Nightclub and Pizza Parlor for the hunt, but otherwise leave it undecorated. It wouldn't hurt to spend 5 minutes cropping in a .SWF puffle poster.

The developers also managed to remove the panel underneath the target for the Puffle Feeder, somehow, as well.

There was also a lot of things to do for roleplay. Let's look at the Lighthouse for example. You could pretend to be an office secretary, a pet (even better with transformations), a surgeon, etc. You could wait with your pet while the few hospital beds are taken. You could test animals for certain diseases and stuff. You could be the diseased animal. You could be lying in a cage because the vet had you stay overnight. You could take a bath or get an x-ray. There's so many fun things to do in just one location out of 12. Wait, only 12?

Why is there a spoon in an operating room?

In terms of story, there isn't one, as far as I saw, other than the puffles missing and you need to find them, but that's okay; I don't need every party to be Operation: Blackout.

Overall, I give this party a 7/10. To recap, I give the 2011 an 8/10, 2012 and 2013 get a 9/10, 2014 gets a 6/10, and 2015 gets a 5/10. Goodbye!

Club Penguin Customs - Puffle Party (Part 1)

Hello penguins! Today I will show you a few rooms for the Puffle Party that I have created. I made about 8 to show you today. So let's get started! Please note that if I missed a puffle domain, it means that I think the last version of that domain was good. If that domain has been replaced, the replacement has been relocated.

This is the Book Room, also known as the Blue Puffle domain. It has a little playset from the Forest from the Puffle Party 2012. There is a Blue Puffle Rug taken from the Pet Shop. A blue beanbag chair is next to the blue reading chair, which has been recolored from brown. A few of the books on the bookcase have been recolored blue. The books and flower pot on top have been changed to various shades of blue. 2 of the walls have a new coat of paint. The orange couch has been replaced with the red one from the 5th Anniversary Party. The lampshade is now blue and has beach balls on it. The PENGUIN ART section on the wall has some new art. The biggest one, which was previously blank, has been filled in by a blue puffle from the actual Club Penguin Fan Art page. The red and green puffles on the painting in the bottom right have been recolored blue. A beachball has been placed next to the middle mancala table, which I added. A blue book has been added to the table with the lamp on it. Blue Puffle balloons have been placed in various locations around the room. Blue Puffles are located on the top of the bookcase and on both of the sofas.

UPDATE: The Lighthouse from the Puffle Party 2013 also includes real fan art in the paintings, so I think it would fit even better using real fan art here, knowing that.
